The Foreign Film Industry

Immersing yourself in the #language(s) you are #studying is essential to improve and make progress towards becoming fluent. It doesn’t have to be difficult or boring, and immersing yourself could entail watching a film or reading a book in that language or visiting the country rather than spending hours drowning your brain in a book.

I recommend watching #films; without the subtitles of course. With Hollywood being such a dominating figure in our Western world, we sometimes forget that other countries have their own film industry and this doesn’t make them inferior to Hollywood movies at all. The #French have made some truly moving films, such as The Intouchables (Les Intouchables), a story of two friends, a rich invalid and the poor immigrant that looks after him. Though the Spanish are known for often making their films excessively sexual, they have also produced #beautiful and moving films such as Pan’s Labyrinth (El Laberinto Del Fauno), a story of a young girl growing up during the #Spanish Civil War. Foreign films address issues such as history, modern politics, all types of love, racism and class and we could all learn from them and not just in terms of languages.
