Rio de Janeiro is a #city unlike no other: a rising city next to some of the #world's most beautiful #beaches, surrounded by striking #mountains and wild #jungle, and painful disparities of social inequality. This city of contrasts is best enjoyed up high where the breathless views can be soaked in. Here are three places to see Rio with a bird's-eye view:
1. #Dois irmãos
These two jagged small mountains rise up behind the favela (slum) of #Vidigal. The hike up seems too easy given the outstanding view that greets #trekkers. Overlooking the #beaches and the south zone of the city, the views give a stunning 360 degree outlook.
The mountain that supports the Christ is naturally going to offer out-of-this world #views. The climb is something of a #fitness test but it is easy to be distracted by the surrounding jungle and #monkeys keeping you entertained.
3. #Pedra da Gávea
Being one of the highest mountains in the world that ends directly in the #ocean, it is no small wonder that this peak provides a perfect stand to scan your eyes of a truly incredible view. This is a challenging #climb with one part requiring a small amount of #rock climbing but is a small price to pay for an unforgettable sight.
