Meet Sedric, your future Volkswagen

June 29, 2018

It doesn't have a steering wheel or pedals but Sedric (SElf DRIving Car) is Volkswagen's answer to make our #future #journeys easier and more comfortable.

At the Geneva Auto Show, the #German manufacturer presented this electric vehicle (autonomy of up to 250 miles) which doesn't need a human #driver at all, and the passengers have only to enjoy the ride and the view.  VW calls it the "prototype of future prototypes."

It is fairly easy to use: you use a button to open and close the doors, and once inside you can tell Sedric where you want to go, or what you want it to do. You can ask for it to drive you through town, to pick the children up from school or to begin the charging procedure.

There are only three buttons on the dashboard - Stop, Go, and Call Assistance.

Built with the city #traffic in mind, Sedric still has a lot of testing to go before it’s brought to market. According to Ulrich Eichhorn, Chief Technology Officer of the Volkwagen Group, "We have been working on #autonomous driving for more than twenty years."

Let's hope the VW clients that want to have Sedric's help don't have to wait another 20 years!
