In the near #future, you'll be able to learn a new language whenever you have some free time, even if it is just a couple of minutes!
An MIT research team is developing Waitsuit: a set of apps built for computers and #mobile #devices that will work like pop-ups, allowing quick learning moments throughout the day. The ultimate goal is to progressively learn a new language.
The app that I find to be the most interesting of this suit of apps is called WaitChatter, which is a small chat window that 'talks' to the user in the selected #language whenever the user has to wait for something. Practice makes perfect, right?!
According to Carrie Cai, a PhD Student at MIT and leader of the WaitSuit #project, one of the interesting outcomes of the learning suit is that users actually become more focused in what they are doing after using the app. They are also thinking about adapting the app to other subjects like math, medical terms and legal jargon.
It seems to be a great way to #learn whenever one wants, and as ubiquitous as mobile devices are nowadays it is nice to have one more way to take advantage of them!
