Do Clothes Make The Man?

Did you know that a standard train #ticket allows you to disembark at any #station on your given journey and continue to your stop later? I sometimes utilize this to see the sights of a #place before reaching my final #destination, and last week was no exception! M&S had an up to 70% off sale, and being a man of discerning #taste, I stopped off at #Reading on my way to #Oxford.

Delighted that there were #sale items in my size, for just £100 I decked myself out head to toe: #leather shoes, cotton #trousers, an elegant #shirt, and more importantly, an #Italian-made #jacket! By the time I arrived in Oxford I looked the part in my new #attire.

I proudly made my way to Keble College to listen to a #speech being given by a Malaysian #MP who was an Alumni of Oxford #University. As it turns out the poor guy had lost his luggage on the train and was #lecturing #wearing #casual clothes, complete with #sport shoes, #jeans, #T-shirt and #coat! After making a joke about his #apparel, he moved on to more serious #subject matters.

I unexpectedly felt quite envious for not possessing his #relaxed #charisma, especially as he was latterly surrounded by #women! Never has the saying “clothes don’t make the man” resonated so loudly! Oh well, better luck next time…
