What’s on this Month

This September, the annual one day Angel Canal #Festival returns to the City Road Lock on the peaceful Regent’s Canal in Islington, and features a variety of attractions and events for the whole family. The event takes place on Sunday 4th September and includes #attractions such as a children’s fun fair, boat trips, regatta, live music, street theatre and a boat rally. There will be up to 80 stalls and gazebos arranged along the towpath selling anything from crafts, books, jewellery, food and drink. Local and national charities will be on site to raise awareness for their respective causes and to also provide entertainment. The festival will be opened by the Mayor of Islington who will be arriving by boat from the London Canal #Museum. He will give a welcoming speech before starting the Bell-Boat Race in the City Road Basin. This #family day out by the canal will be a treat for all.

I don’t think that anyone will argue the fact that Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is a great costume #drama with a riveting storyline. The famous story has been adapted for stage by Simon Reade and directed by Deborah Bruce, and will be showing at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre from the 2nd to 17th September. If you have swooned over Mr Darcy whilst reading the book and watching the drama adaption on television, then now you will be able to swoon all over him again during this stage version as well. Which #JaneAusten #Book is your favourite?

Which #Olympic sport did you enjoy watching the most?

For those of you who didn’t get the chance to travel to Rio this year for the #Olympics, then do not despair as #Brazil Day will be taking place at London’s Trafalgar Square on Saturday 10th September. There will be DJs and live music which will show the #cultural diversity of the country, and create a street carnival atmosphere in the centre of London. There will also be a sporting dimension with interactive games and highlights of #Rio 2016. This free event will give you a little taste of Brazil without you having to leave the country.
