The Latest Climate Change Report

Have you noticed changes to the weather conditions and seasons in your part of the world?
The latest report by the Intergovernmental Panel on #Climate Change, yet again urges world leaders to act now. The main message pushes for a move from fossil fuels to sustainable energy sources.
Hundreds of scientists from around the globe joined to create this paper aimed at governments that can do something about #global warming and its dire consequences.
Major issues raised included increased scientific certainty to 95% that humans are the cause of climate change. They also warned that the risk of severe, widespread, irreversible impacts globally is very high.
These risks include a 10-13 foot sea rise caused by the West #Antarctica ice sheet melting and the extinction of hundreds of currently #endangered species.
Scientists emphasised this is happening now, citing examples of extreme weather such as heat waves in #Europe, #Asia and #Africa, and heavy rain and snow in #Europe and #North America. The solution they said is for governments, with the support of their citizens, to reduce greenhouse emissions by 40-70% by 2050 and down to 0% by 2100 with the use of renewable energy sources. The costs of inaction far outweigh the costs of using #renewable energy.
