What’s on this Month

As the cold weather creeps in this October, we find ourselves reaching out to hot comfort foods and beverages to help keep us warm. If porridge is one of your #winter comfort foods, then why not go to the London Porridge Championships for some inspiring porridge recipes. #Aspiring home-cooks, instagrammers and bloggers will battle it out against expert cookery writers and #restaurants for the right to say they make the capital’s best porridge, and be crowned Porridge Champ. In what ways do you make your porridge taste extra special? Porridge-loving Frances Quinn, winner of the Great British Bake Off, is on the judging panel and members of the public will also be given spoons to taste the entries for themselves. To make the day more #memorable, visitors will be given mini-packs of porridge oats to take home with them. The competition takes place on Friday 16th at the Whole Foods Market on Kensington High Street.

Hmmmm….how much do you love chocolate? If just thinking about it makes your sweet tooth tingle, then the Chocolate Show is the place for you to go as you’ll be able to #indulge in it to your hearts content. The event takes place on the 16th, 17th and 18th October at #London Olympia and is an all-encompassing celebration of the sweet stuff with a tempting array of #demonstrations, tastings, #activities and #shopping #opportunities. This year the event will host a new live production of how #chocolate starts life as a bean and becomes the sugary treat we love so much. There will be children’s area hosted by the Charlie and The Chocolate Factory #Musical, with chocolate workshops and the iconic Great Glass Elevator. You’ll be able to try chocolate samples in the Tasting Room and food stalls as well as buy produce made from top chocolatiers.

The Fabric of India is an exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum that showcases handmade textiles from India. On display will be striking historic costumes and cutting-edge fashion from celebrated #India designers and highly prized textiles made for international trade. An 18th-century tent belonging to Tipu Sultan is a highlight of the #exhibition. Over 200 objects ranging from the 3rd to 21st Century will be brought together at the V & A. This exhibition starts on the 3rd of October and closes on 10th January 2016.
