What’s on this Month

September 6, 2015

What do you plan to do this Autumn?

As the leaves change colour and slowly fall from the tree branches, you can enjoy lots of events this month that will help take away the sorrow of saying goodbye to the summer. Chrisp Street Festival takes place on Sunday 6thSeptember at the East India Dock Road market, and is a free day of family friendly circus themed entertainment. There will be #dance performances, art, poetry and #live #music events. You can even join the circus for the day by heading to The Big Top and taking part in acrobalancing, hula hooping, face painting, juggling and plate spinning #workshops. Aircraft #Circus also gives two 30-minute aerial acrobatic shows a day. There will be a variety of foods available from #Spanish dishes to hotdogs. Clown stilt walkers, interactive street art and roaming children’s entertainers all help make the day more exhilarating.

If you enjoy running and also are partial to Gorillas, then the Great Gorilla Run is the event you must attend! Aiming to raise money to save the world’s remaining gorillas, hundreds of people will be pulling on their gorilla costumes and running, jogging or walking the 8km City and #Bankside route. The #costumes vary from poised ballerina gorillas to prancing #cheerleading gorillas, so don’t be afraid to express your #creative #style through your costume. The event takes place on Saturday 19th September and participants need to pay a registration fee which can be done through The Gorilla Organisation #website (a gorilla costume is included!). The run starts and finishes at the London Underwriting Centre off Mincing Lane, and there will be a prize giving #ceremony at the finish line.

If just the thought of running makes you break out in a sweat, then why not sit back and watch a show where others put themselves through strenuous #physical exertion. From 29th September to 17th October at the Peacock Theatre, Kung-Fu masters the Shaolin Monks, will take you on a journey of the mystical history of this ancient martial art. The Shaolin Monks return to the UK after seven years with a brand new show. The twenty-member cast will perform incredible feats, combing traditional Shaolin #Kung-Fu, #choreography and dramatic lighting which will leave audiences astounded.
