A Buy Button from Google

Great news for #shopping-addicts (or is it?), #Google has confirmed that in the near-future there will be a 'buy button' next to its search results. Google Search users will finally have the option to effortlessly purchase with the click of a button the product they were searching for without having the need to visit a separate #website.

According to the company's Chief Business Officer, Omid Kordestani, 9 out of 10 purchases are still made offline, a statistic that apparently Google is not fond of and wants to do something about, reshaping #e-commerce in the process.

Currently, retailers are charged a premium to appear in a noticeable position on the results page of a relevant Google search. Google Buy is one key step further to this lucrative relationship, as retailers that acknowledge the benefits of having an optimised website for the new Google #technology will outmanoeuvre those who still prefer an up close and in person type of #relationship with a customer, according to some experts.

#Amazon will be the main competitor of this 'button', and it will be interesting to see how the current e-commerce #champion responds to the #Search monster.
